Anchor 2 Success is an inter-institutional agreement between 榴莲视频 and Central Falls High School wherein 榴莲视频 will admit any Central Falls High School junior who throughout their past three years of high school have maintained a minimum GPA of 2.5 and a 90 percent attendance rate. Admittance is based on the condition that they maintain this GPA and attendance rate throughout their senior year.

In addition to automatic acceptance to 榴莲视频, Anchor 2 Success students will have their Common Application fee waived, their 榴莲视频 enrollment fee waived and their housing deposit waived.

鈥淭hese students have already proven themselves,鈥 says 榴莲视频 Admission Counselor Maya Suggs. 鈥淲aiving these fees is our reward to them.鈥 As 榴莲视频鈥檚 Anchor 2 Success coordinator, Suggs鈥 role includes assisting these students in filling out the Common Application, guiding them through 榴莲视频鈥檚 enrollment process and providing them with any other supports they need.

Also assisting these students in the college preparation process is Central Falls Guidance Counselor Yadira Garcia, who is also a two-time 榴莲视频 alumna.

Garcia says, 鈥淜nowing that these students have the opportunity to go to a really great school like 榴莲视频 is exciting for me. I鈥檓 a little partial to 榴莲视频 because I went to 榴莲视频鈥檚 Upward Bound Program, PEP Program and I earned two degrees at 榴莲视频 鈥 a B.A. in communication in 1999 and an M.A. in counseling in 2012. I鈥檝e been tried-and-true to the college since I was 15 years old and I continue to be a cheerleader for everything 榴莲视频 does. Being a 榴莲视频 grad, I can give them perspective, advice and offer my first-hand experience.鈥

鈥淚 think we have a very strong rising junior and senior class,鈥 she says. 鈥淭hese kids are really well-rounded in that they are not only academically strong, they participate in programs, sports and afterschool clubs. It makes me happy to see such high-achieving students.鈥

Elijah Nunez says, 鈥淭he thing I鈥檝e been told by my parents since childhood is that I鈥檓 too smart not to go to college. I鈥檓 interested in studying engineering or computer science.鈥

鈥淢y job,鈥 Suggs says, 鈥渋s to be beside them throughout the college enrollment process. Our job, as a college, is to make whatever dreams they have come true. It鈥檚 good to know, at the end of the day, that we鈥檙e making a difference in their lives.鈥
